HDFS 330鈥擡ngaging with Children Ages 0-8

Develops skills in applying theoretical approaches to observing, recording, and interpreting the behavior of young children in order to design interactions that support learning in group settings. This course includes 20 observational hours in a preschool setting.

HDFS 331-Practicum in Child Development
3 Credits
Practices engaging in an educational program designed for young children through observation and engagement in a preschool setting. Focuses on interaction techniques, classroom management, and implementation of curricula, based on developmental observation, research, and theory. This course includes 60 observational and interactional hours in a preschool setting.

HDFS 433鈥擡arly Childhood Internship
10 Credits
Students will complete an internship with a focus on curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, individualization for diverse student needs, and communication with students. This course includes regular class meeting sessions and 300 hours of work in a preschool or elementary school setting (K-2) within Bend-La Pine School District or Redmond School District.
Prereqs: HDFS 311, HDFS 330, and HDFS 331
